Can we pay/enter as a group/company?

Are there entries on the day?

Yes – unless the event is sold out beforehand. Please check the website or call us to check a couple of days before. A surcharge of £3 will be charged on the day.

 

How do I know if my online entry worked?

You will receive an automated confirmation email.

 

What are the withdrawal and refund details?

Can I transfer my entry to another athlete?

Yes – up until 3 weeks before event day. Please see the Terms and Conditions HERE, and email us at: info@purplepatchrunning.com

 

How/when do I receive my race pack?

No race packs will be sent out in the post – you can pick up your race pack from registration on Saturday 1st September 2018 at Nicholsons Walk Shopping Centre, Maidenhead SL6 1LB between 11am and 3pm, or Sunday (event day) at the race village at Maidenhead Town Hall. Details are in the Competitors’ Information Pack.

 

I ran in the inaugural race in 2011 - how do I make sure I get my usual race number?

You will automatically receive your original race number - you do not need to do anything.

 

Can I give my race number to someone else?

No sorry – this is absolutely not allowed. If there should be a medical emergency it is vital that we know who is taking part under each event number.

 

Are there any age restrictions?

You must be at least 17 years of age on event day to take part in the Half Marathon.

 

I am ill, injured or unable to take part - what do I do?

Am I allowed to raise money for a nominated charity?

The Maidenhead Half Marathon is raising funds for Thames Valley Adventure Park, a charity for children and adults with special needs. TVAP would be grateful for your support. However, you are of course welcome to raise money for whichever charity you choose.

ON THE DAY

Where is the start/finish?

Outside the Town Hall, St Ives Rd, Maidenhead, Berkshire

 

Is there parking?

Yes, there is plenty of free town centre parking available at Hines Meadow Car Park and Nicholsons Walk Car Park.

 

How do I get there?

Full directions can be found in the Competitors’ Information Pack.

 

What is the nearest station to the start?

Maidenhead Railway Station – a short 5 mins walk.

 

What time should I arrive on the day?

Registration opens at 7:45am and the event starts at 9:30am. We recommend that you arrive as early as possible to avoid last minute panics.

 

What will I be given on the day?

You will receive your race number, with a timing chip attached to the back of the number. Your race number should be pinned with four safety pins to the FRONT of your running top. Please do not obscure it at any time. If you don’t have safety pins, there will be some at registration.

 

Is there anywhere I can leave my bag while I'm competing?

Yes, there will be a baggage drop near to the start.

 

Are there toilets available?

Yes, there will be toilet provision on-site.

 

Are there showers?

Sorry, no showers – but everyone’s in the same boat, so no need to worry!

 

What other facilities are there?

At the race village there will be toilets, catering outlets for both before and after your race, a massage tent, and more.

 

Are there toilets along the route of the course?

There are no event toilets along the course.

 

Can I wear headphones?

We do not advise that you wear headphones – it is important that you can hear marshals’ instructions and are aware of other runners and your surroundings. However, we do not ban them. We recommend bone conduction headphones.

 

Is there any first aid on the course?

There is full medical back-up for the event.

 

Are there any water stations on the course?

Yes, you will pass water stations 4 times during the race and there will be water at the finish.

 

How does the event start work?

All competitors should assemble behind the start line according to the time they expect to complete – there will be time boards to help you. Please get into position in plenty of time.

 

Is there a time limit on finishing the race?

There is no official cut-off time, however marshals will be stood down after 3 hours and road closures may be lifted. If you are still running after 3 hours, please follow signage carefully and run on the pavements. Please contact us if this is a worry for you.

AFTER THE RACE

When and where will the results be published?

Results will be published on the 'Results' tab on the event website as soon as possible after the event.

 

Where can I find photos afterwards?

Photos will be published on the event website as soon as possible after the event.

 

Are there food or refreshments at the event?

Yes, you will be able to buy coffee, tea, food, etc, before and after the race.

 

Are there any prizes?

Yes – prizes are awarded to the first three male & female finishers plus first male and female veteran in each race distance, plus 1st local male/female.

 

Will I get a medal at the finish?

Yes, all runners completing the race will receive a fantastic finisher's medal!

FAMILY FUN RUN

What time does the Family Fun Run start?

Right after the main half marathon has gone off – approx. 09:35-09:40.

 

Where does it start & finish?

Under the main purple gantry in St Ives Rd, outside the Town Hall  – exactly the same as the half marathon.

 

What is the distance?

1.5 miles.

 

What age do you have to be?

Any age! Adults and children welcome. NOTE: children 8yrs or under must be accompanied by a registered paying adult.

 

Is it chip-timed?

Yes.

 

When and where should we pick up race packs?

You can pick up your race pack from registration on Saturday 1st September 2018 at Nicholsons Walk Shopping Centre, Maidenhead SL6 1LB between 11am and 3pm, or Sunday (event day) at the race village at Maidenhead Town Hall. Details are in the Competitors’ Information Pack.

 

Are there prizes for the Family Fun Run?

Yes, all participants receive a medal. Trophies will be given to the winning child in age groups: U-7yrs/7-8yrs/9-10yrs/11-12yrs/13-14yrs/15-16 yrs.

 

Do Fun Runners receive a medal?

Yes, each Fun Runner receives a finisher's medal.

 

Can I and/or my child enter on the day?

Yes, we will be taking late entries on the Saturday & Sunday (race day) at a cost of £10 (this includes a late entry fee of £1 on top of the usual price of £9)  - details are in the Competitors’ Information Pack.

 

Is the route safe and traffic-free?

Yes, you will be using a section of the main half marathon route which will be traffic-free.
